Parisa Aberi

M.Sc.

Description

Parisa is a skilled hydrologist with over five years of experience in hydrologic modeling, water management, water resources engineering, and machine learning. She is passionate about developing and deploying process-based hydrologic models and conducting wildfire impact detection in Canadian forested watersheds, and is adept at using advanced numerical tools and data analysis techniques to support environmental research and water resource management.

Habitat
Parisa is a highly nomadic species, venturing from the mountainous regions of Iran to the varied landscapes of eastern Canada. While her work often involves handling data and hydrological models during the day in front of a computer, she finds relaxation outdoors in nature, especially under clear night skies overlooking Canada’s Great Lakes. Both inside and out of work, Parisa enjoys exploring new landscapes, which helps give her a sense of perspective and passion for her work.

Life History
Raised in Iran, Parisa earned her BSc in Water Engineering from the University of Kurdistan and later completed a MSc in Water Resources Engineering. She has worked on hydrological projects in Iran and Canada, contributing to research on water systems and environmental impacts. Parisa’s dedication to understanding water systems is matched only by her passion for sharing her knowledge and inspiring others to appreciate the importance of water resources.

Predation/Conservation
Researchers speculate that Parisa is actually nocturnal and uses the stars to navigate, as she can often be found stargazing or capturing scenic night skies with her camera. However, in order to survive life in more urban conditions, Parisa has adapted to function during the daytime.  Balancing her love for astrophotography with her professional life is an ongoing challenge for Parisa, but she appears to thrive under challenging conditions, a feature that has stumped conservationists.
