Description
Niko is a geoscientist with a variety of interests bridging the fields of hydrology, geology, meteorology, and data science. His experience in government, industry, and academic settings spans from leading regional-scale hydrometric and climate monitoring in southeastern British Columbia, conducting geological mapping in northern Canada, and characterizing surface water change in global high latitude regions.

Habitat
Niko now calls the East Kootenay region home, currently residing in Fernie, BC. He is risk-averse yet spends large portions of his time rolling or sliding down various orographic features. Niko also enjoys running wherever the road may lead, passing around small rubber discs on shallow, frozen, anthropogenic ponds, and exploring prairie wetlands with family and friends.

Life History
Niko was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan but has since drifted west, settling in the southern Rockies of British Columbia. He holds a BSc in Geology from the University of Regina and a Master of Water Security from the University of Saskatchewan. He is currently a registered Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT).

Predation/Conservation
Niko models his relatively competent and adaptable behaviour after his close canine companion who is increasingly more patient of the time spent sitting in front of a computer. Niko requires large periods of solitude but has often been observed in small packs roaming snowy mountain peaks and river valleys bottoms.
